Needle & sharps clearance

Needle and sharps clearance, carried out safely.

Discarded needles and other sharps can create an injury and contamination risk. From our Bath base, we provide discreet, risk-led searches and clearance across Bath, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and surrounding areas.

When to call

Protect your people. Clear the sharps.

We can help with

  • Building, construction and development sites
  • Vacant buildings awaiting refurbishment or demolition
  • Site entrances, boundaries, compounds and welfare areas
  • Hoarded properties, squats and abandoned buildings
  • Rental properties, supported housing and communal areas
  • Gardens, car parks, public toilets and commercial premises
  • Schools, play areas and other sites requiring a controlled search

Construction and development sites

Vacant buildings, partially developed properties and unsecured areas can sometimes attract unauthorised access. Discarded needles may be concealed among rubble, vegetation, stored materials or general site waste, creating a risk to workers, contractors and visitors. We can assess and clear affected areas before work begins or resumes.

Areas we cover

Based in Bath, we cover Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Wiltshire and the surrounding region, including Weston-super-Mare, Chippenham, Trowbridge, Warminster and Stroud. We work across city centres, residential neighbourhoods and nearby communities. Call with your postcode to confirm coverage, or use the local service links below.

Who we work with

Customers include private homeowners, landlords, letting agents, block managers, housing associations, supported-housing providers, facilities managers, contractors, developers and property-restoration companies. We can undertake a one-off clearance or discuss repeat attendance where a site has an ongoing risk.

A methodical inspection

We assess the site, likely hazards and agreed working area before beginning. Accessible areas are inspected methodically, and identified sharps are handled using appropriate protective equipment, retrieval tools and approved sharps containers.

Associated waste and decontamination

Where included within the agreed scope, surrounding hazardous waste and contaminated materials can also be removed. Affected surfaces can then be cleaned and decontaminated according to the circumstances.

Documentation for organisations

Building contractors, developers, site managers, landlords and housing providers can be given documentation describing the agreed work and waste removed. Clearance records what was found during the inspection; an open or subsequently disturbed site cannot be guaranteed to remain free of sharps.

Assessment and pricing

Each quotation is based on the size and condition of the search area, accessibility, likely concealment points, labour time, protective equipment, sharps containers, associated hazardous waste and disposal requirements. Photographs may help with an initial discussion, but a site assessment may be needed where needles could be hidden.

If you find a discarded needle

Do not touch, bend, break or attempt to recap it. Keep people and animals away, and do not place it loose in a rubbish bag, skip or general-waste bin. If further needles may be concealed beneath rubble, vegetation, furniture or waste, do not search through the material by hand.

Responsible disposal

Sharps and associated hazardous waste are contained, transported and arranged for lawful disposal through appropriate waste channels. Insight Property Remediation is registered with the Environment Agency as an upper-tier waste carrier.
